The song was released as the album’s sixth and final single by Blackground and Atlantic records on September 16, 1997. Towards the end of 1997 it was reported by Billboard that the song had sold over 900,000 copies in the United States. Internationally the song performed moderately well peaking within the top 40 at number 28 on the Recorded Music NZ chart in New Zealand. In Europe the song peaked within the top 40 at number 30 on the UK official charts. The also peaked within the top 40 on the official dance charts at number 25 on November 16, 1997. Meanwhile On the UK official R&B charts the song was performed even better peaking within the top 5 at number 3. Elsewhere in Europe the song peaked within the top 20 at number 16 in The Netherlands on the Tipparade chart on February 6, 1998.
