Written by band members Gwen Stefani and Tony Kanal, the song and was released worldwide as the album's fourth and final single on July 1, 2003 by Interscope Records. The song was also in 2003 used on the last episode of the US TV series Sabrina, the Teenage Witch. "Running" received mixed reviews from music critics and was compared to Depeche Mode-style songs.
