Bruford

This article is about the band Bruford. For the band's drummer, see Bill Bruford.Bruford were a band that former Yes and King Crimson drummer Bill Bruford formed and led in the late 1970s. After leaving the band U.K., Bill Bruford had assembled a band for his debut solo album, Feels Good to Me, with Dave Stewart (keyboards), Jeff Berlin (bass), Allan Holdsworth (guitar) (who had also been in the band U.K.) and Bruford (drums). That album also had Annette Peacock on vocals, and Kenny Wheeler on flugelhorn. A second album was then released under the band name Bruford and was mostly instrumental, and on the live album The Bruford Tapes (a live show originally broadcast for radio station WLIR) and associated tour, guitarist John Clark (formerly of Quasar) replaced Holdsworth. Bass player Berlin sang the vocals on Gradually Going Tornado. A boxed set of Bruford recordings - featuring 8 discs of remastered, remixed and previously unreleased material - is due for release by Winterfold in October 2017. The unreleased material comprises one entire gig recorded at London's The Venue and a disc of 18 short tracks/snippets of music still in preparation for Bruford's intended fourth studio album. This album never materialised due to the band being dropped by EG Records in 1980.
