About Teenager of the Year
Teenager of the Year is Frank Black’s second solo album, released in 1994 and produced by former Pere Ubu member Eric Drew Feldman, who also played keyboards. Teenager also features work by several backing musicians, including Pixies guitarist Joey Santiago and guitarist Lyle Workman.
The album reached number 2 on Billboard's Heat Seekers list and 131 on The Billboard 200 list in 1994. The single "Headache" reached number 10 on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks that year.
Although not originally well-received, the record is now widely praised by both critics and fans. This album is often cited as the high-point of Francis' post-Pixies catalogue, and was named on Pitchfork's "Top 100 Albums of the 90s".
