"I Can Hear the Grass Grow " is the second single by The Move. It was recorded in 1967, and released in March of that year on Deram Records. It is a psychedelic pop song referring to the synesthetic effects of hallucinogenics. It reached number five on the UK Singles Chart.In 1968, Blues Magoos recorded the song for their album, Basic Blues Magoos. The song was covered in 1996 by the British rock band Status Quo, but this rock version of the song was not released as a single. However, it appeared on their album, Don't Stop. In 2005, The Fall also covered the track on their album, Fall Heads Roll.
