Sharooz

Shahrooz (born Shahrooz Raoofi) is a UK-based electronic music artist, producer and sound designer. His work has appeared on a variety of record labels such as Modular, Fool's Gold, and Record Makers. Sharooz is also a founder of various electronic music ventures including sound design company Audiaire, Sample Magic, Attack Magazine, record label La Bombe and the Principle Pleasure recording studio in Los Angeles.Appearing under his first name 'Shahrooz', he has remixed a wide range of artists including Moby, Robyn and Howard Jones. As a DJ he has toured extensively, appearing in the USA, Australia, Russia, France, Spain, Sweden and South Korea. Shahrooz has featured in Future Music magazine four times, firstly in May 2009 where he was filmed for a cover article,, in April 2014 for a 'Studio Tour' and most recently in March 2019. Under various guises he has written and produced works for motion picture such as the Palme d'Or nominated film Rust and Bone and the Netflix original series Baby. Raoofi has played keyboards on remixes of artists such as The Pussycat Dolls and appeared as a mix engineer on the Bryan Ferry song Shameless.. He has worked with Mylo on a remix for Robyn on her own Konichiwa Records label. Sharooz has worked extensively as a sound designer, on Roland's TR8-S drum machine, System-8 synthesiser, Steinberg's Cubase software, Korg's Minilogue synthesiser, Microsampler, Gadget iPad app, Electribe and Kronos workstation, programming patches, banks and loops.Shahrooz has endorsed Roland's TR-08 drum machine, Focal monitors, Steinberg's Cubase, and Prism Sound's Orpheus interface.Raoofi was a co-founder of the Sounds to Sample website, which was subsequently acquired by US based music download company Beatport.In October 2017 Raoofi performed live for Red Bull Music Academy working on an improvised composition with several vintage synthesisers for a live Facebook stream.In October 2018 Billboard Magazine announced that New York based VC funded startup Splice had purchased Raoofi's Sample Magic venture for an undisclosed sum.In February 2019, the software synthesiser Zone, developed by Raoofi under the Audiaire brand was awarded Music Tech magazine's Choice Award.
