About Louise-Geneviève de Saintonge

Louise-Geneviève Gillot de Saintonge (sometimes Sainctonge), born Gillot de Beaucourt, (1650 – 24 March 1718) was a French femme de lettres and celebrated librettist (a writer for the text of an opera or another work of music that contains lyrics). She was also the first woman to have a work performed at the Royal Academy of Music in France (Didon the Dido).
