About Jávor László

László Jávor (May 3, 1903 – December 21, 1956) was a Hungarian poet who wrote the poem that was the basis for the jazz standard "Gloomy Sunday", composed by Rezső Seress, later also notably recorded by Billie Holiday. He died in 1956 from heart attack The poem in Hungarian reads: He died later with a minor heart attack on 21 February 1956 Seress has continued (transliterated) it:
