About Henri Darondeau

Henri Darondeau, full name Henry Benoît François d'Arondeau, (28 February 1779, Strasbourg – 30 July 1865, Paris aged 86) was a 19th-century French composer. When he was an organist in Bourges, he taught lessons in solfège, piano, harmony and counterpoint to the young Frédéric Barbier. He was the father of Benoît Darondeau, hydrographer, and Stanislas Darondeau, a painter. He wrote some 100 works among which: 1805: Rosina et Lorenzo, ballet by Jean-Pierre Aumer, music Henri Darondeau, Théâtre de la Porte-Saint-Martin, 6 March 1809: Le retour de la sentinelle, lyrics by Louis Brault 1810: Frédéric duc de Nevers, text by Mardelle, E. F. Varez, Théâtre de l'Ambigu 1862: Herliska for piano Op. 35
